In 1973, the La Viarte farm was founded in the small town of Prepotto, in the province of Udine. A company that fixes in its name the encounter between dream and reality, between roots and air, between past and future: “Viarte”, in Friulian, means “spring”.
The vineyards
Its territory covers an area of about 41 hectares. Of which 26 are dedicated to the production of wine. The remaining 15 hectares are occupied by magnificent and historic woods, which the property considers fundamental for the maintenance of the ecosystem. The philosophy of La Viarte, in fact, embraces and promotes the idea of respect for the environment and the work of winemakers. Wine is therefore a radical respect for the past as well as an innovative push, to grow enthusiastically. Natural, innovative and certified techniques are adopted that allow the adoption of efficient water-nutrient systems, in order to promote the natural fertility of the land. In the vineyards are grown both native vines, among which we remember above all Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, schioppettino and the tazzelenghe. But also international, such as merlot, pinot grigio, cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon blanc and pinot bianco.
Respect for the territory
The care and respect for the territory has made La Viarte one of the cellars selected for an innovative project promoted by the CRA and the Ministry for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies. La Viarte is a symbol of environmental sustainability thanks to the refinement of agronomic techniques such as the “sovesci” (vegetable fertilization practice that consists of interrating, with plowing or digging, one or more spontaneous herbaceous species to increase the groundness), which should favor the biodiversity of the whole ecosystem-vineyard and eliminating chemical weeding.
The harvest and the grapes
The harvests are carried out strictly by hand. Plant after plant, bunch after bunch, every single fruit is scrupulously selected and placed in small boxes. This management facilitates the transport and avoiding the initiation of unwanted fermentation processes. All this is quality.
The autochthonous grapes grown by La Viarte contain in their grapes an ancient flavor and the history of a land written with the hands of nature. They are voices from the past that echo, inside a bottle, the pride of being pages of history.
If you have been pleasantly caught by this magnificent winery I suggest you to taste their excellent products as soon as possible, certainly you will not regret!
Good day!
