Enologica Montefalco returns from 14 to 16 September. This year he has with him an extraordinary series of initiatives dedicated to one of the most important DOCG in Italy: Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG. His is in fact a program full of events with many initiatives that revolve around this particular wine and its history: it is therefore a unique possibility for tourists and winelovers to know closely the villages, lands and cellars of wine production of the Umbrian area.
The Sagrantino
The Sagrantino di Montefalco comes from an ancient vine, whose traces date back to the first century D.C. and has always remained well anchored to the area that saw it born and which represents its natural habitat. Traditionally produced in the passito version it is only starting from the late seventies and the early eighties that it was started to vinify it consistently in the dry version. In 1992 the Sagrantino di Montefalco became the twelfth Italian wine to obtain the DOCG and is now recognized as one of the flags of Italian wine in the world. It is cultivated almost exclusively in the territory of Montefalco, in the province of Perugia. Sagrantino gives rise to a dark ruby red wine characterized by fruity and spicy aromas, of great structure, rich and with an inimitable tannic texture.
The program
On the occasion of the year of Italian food, this new edition will be dedicated above all to the theme of food, offering its visitors an intriguing and varied program, designed to give a journey without equal among the food and wine excellences. But there will also be three days between tastings at the counters in the presence of 25 local wineries. Guided tastings, cooking shows, tastings of local gastronomic products, art exhibitions, taste workshops. There will also be meetings on food and wine pairing, as well as art exhibitions, live music, tours to learn more about Montefalco and the wonders that surround it, conferences and debates. In this three days, moreover, the wineries that will take part in Enologica Montefalco will promote their activities and tastings on bookings, while the restaurants participating in the event will propose, in the three days, an ad hoc dish where the main ingredient will be the Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG.
It is therefore an unmissable event for all wine lovers! If you participate, let me know how it went!
Good day!
