THE WINE
Historical company founded in 1898 in Prepotto, near the border with Slovenia. A land difficult to cultivate but rich in quality; Edi and Maurizio, the winery owners, grow the wines with a low environmental impact. The harvest is also done manually.
The winery devoted itself to the cultivation of indigenous varieties ribolla giallo, schioppettino, friulano, but also cabernet franc and merlot. The grapes used for this wine are 100% Merlot
Deep ruby red. The aroma is powerful with a marked balsamic and spicy texture; notes of star anise and rust are intertwined with hints of cloves closing with puffs of cherry under spirit and thyme. Full-bodied on the palate, silky tannins are immediately perceived, but they are well integrated with the salty taste. The finish is long and mentholated.
After the manual harvest that takes place at the end of September, the selected grapes are de-stemmed and fermented on the skins for 10 days, at controlled temperature. Follows a very soft pressing. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks. After the decanting, the wine is left to age in the same steel tanks for about 6 months. Follows the bottling and subsequent refinement in the bottle for 2 months.
Ruby red with purple highlights. The aroma is spicy, with varietal hints of black pepper, berries and cloves. The taste has a slight aroma of black pepper and berries.
Excellent with red meat dishes, game, hard cheeses, but also with a good frico (typical dish from Friuli).
The bottle has a special label, created exclusively for the La Vite e il Legno wine shop. You can only find it in the wine shop and here on Enolike!
