THE WINE
The Rosso Real from the Moschioni winery is a bland ofT azzelenghe (50%), Merlot (25%) e Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) grapes grown between Cividale and Prepotto in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Moschioni is a certified organic winery, which has a particularity; in fact it has decided to produce only red wines in a land famous in the world for the quality of its white wines.
THE WINEMAKING
The grapes are manually harvested in September and placed on a single layer in 4 kg crates and 20 kg plateaoux which rest for a few days in a shed at room temperature. Once in the cellar, the grapes are pressed softly; natural fermentation follows. The wine rests from October to April in steel; in April it is decanted in barriques of first and second passage where it rests for 12 months. The wine is then transferred to 2000/3000 liter wooden barrels where it ages for a period ranging from 2 to 4 years depending on the vintage. Follows assembly, bottling and a further year of aging in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Intense ruby red with violet reflections. The aroma is fresh with hints of red fruits (strawberry, raspberry and blackberry) followed by floral notes of mountain cyclamen and red rose which in turn give way to spicy hints of cinnamon. Soft and balanced on the palate with silky and well-smoothed tannins and a pleasant mentholated aftertaste.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meat and hard cheeses. Must try with grilled meat.
