THE WINE
Le Bois Jacou Gamay of the Jean-François Mérieau winery is produced with 100% Gamay grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the winery that are located in the Loire valley, in the Touraine DOC; the vines hare between 10 and 60 years old.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is manual and once in the cellar the grapes are subjected to a maceration partly traditional and partly carbonic. The must ferments at a controlled temperature for about 2 weeks. Refinement takes place in steel and lasts about 5 months. After bottling, the wine rests for a few months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Ruby red. The aroma is particularly fruity with hints of red fruit where strawberry, raspberry and cherry prevail and leave room for hints of undergrowth to close with slight peppery scents. Soft and juicy on the palate, with a perfect match between aromas and taste. This is an easy to drink wine with light and well polished tannins. Persistence is also good.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Perfect with grilled meats and soft cheeses. To be enjoyed slightly chilled.
