THE WINE
The Nebbiolo Angelin from the Angelo Negro winery is produced with 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the winery that are located on the hills of the Langhe and Roero. We are in the province of Cuneo in Piedmont, in a land particularly suited to the cultivation of wine. We are at an altitude ranging from 200 to 350 meters above sea level; here the soil is calcareous and sandy.
THE WINEMAKING
The grape harvest, which is strictly manual, takes place at the end of September. The selected grapes are placed in boxes of about 20 kg and taken to the cellar. The winemaking takes place in steel at a controlled temperature. The wine then ages for about 12 months; 80% in steel and 20% in oak barrels. After assembly and bottling, the bottles rest for a few months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Intense ruby red; the wine acquires brick reflections with aging. The aroma is fresh with pleasant floral notes of dog rose which alternate with fruity hints of blackberry and black currant. Soft on the palate; the tannins are present but well smoothen and pleasant. Persistent with a good correspondence between aromas and flavor.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meat, game and hard cheeses.
