THE WINE
The Tintilia Lame del Sorbo from the Agricolavinica winery comes from 100% Tintilia grapes. It is a vine of ancient origins; in fact, it seems that the vineyard was introduced in Molise by the Spaniards towards the end of the 18th century during the Bourbon occupation. The University of Molise has recently demonstrated that Tintilia is a unique vine present only in this region.
The grapes grow in the vineyards owned by the winery which are located in an area called “Lame del Sorbo”; here, the Tintilia variety has been cultivated for over 80 years.
It is an autochthonous and not very well known vine with small bunches, rich in anthocyanins with medium and not too hard tannins.
THE WINEMAKING
The grape harvest is strictly manual and happens in the first ten days of October. Once in the cellar, the winemaking starts with the maceration and spontaneous fermentation in steel tanks with the sole use of indigenous yeasts; this process lasts about 15 days. The wine then ages in steel for about 48 months; after bottling, it rests in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Brilliant ruby red. Pleasant sweet fruity notes of strawberry and plum jam alternate with spicy hints typical of the vine. Fresh and lively on the palate, the tannins are present but soft. Excellent point of acidity that invites you to keep drinking.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Thanks to its freshness, this wine is perfect to use throughout the meal. A must try with lamb chops.
