Blazic winery
Caring for the land
The Blazic winery in Zegla, in the heart of the Cormon hills, has been producing wines since 1923. It has always been a family-run business with about 7 hectares of land where native vines such as Friulano, Ribolla and Gialla and Malvasia and international ones such as Sauvignon, not to forget the red Merlot find space to grow.
Today it is Franco, Cinzia and their son Michele who keep the reins of the company, with a precise goal that they have fixed in mind: to maintain the harmony between traditional viticulture and more modern agronomic management. They have begun the process of transforming the cultivation of vineyards into an organic regime.
The Collio
We are in the heart of the DOC Collio; it is a small area which, thanks to the microclimate (sea breezes arriving from the Adriatic Sea, making the air cleaner and less humid) and the “ponca” terroir (i.e. a marl sandstone of Eocene origin due to millenary stratifications, and rich in microelements) allows the wine to have unique characteristics; perhaps the one that stands out more than others is the minerality. And right here, the Blazic family takes care of their vineyards passionately.
In Cantina
The Blazic winery is managed by a family attentive to tradition but with an eye wide open to innovation. All the new techniques and equipment are used in the cellar, which respects nature and guarantees a production fully representative of the work done in the vineyard.
This winery is a beautiful reality that deserves a visit when passing by Friuli Venezia Giulia.
