The Wine
The Riesling of the Heinrichshof winery comes from Riesling grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the winery. The wine takes its name from the Schlossberg vineyard, located on one of the steepest slopes of Zeltinger. These are Riesling vines that are over 40 years old.
We are in Germany and, more precisely, in Zeltingen in the central Moselle region, also considered the homeland of Riesling in Germany. Here, in 2014 the brother’s Peter and Ulrich Griebeler took over the family business and continued the production of wine, however giving more space to respect nature and practising integrated and sustainable cultivation.
THE WINEMAKING
The grape harvest is strictly manual, and the grapes are harvested only when they are perfectly ripe and are placed in small boxes to be taken to the cellar as quickly as possible for winemaking. Once in the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and softly pressed. The must ferments slowly in stainless steel tanks until the January following the harvest. A five-month ageing period on indigenous yeasts follows. The winery has decided to carry out minimal processing of the must, so there is no decanting, added additives, or stabilisations. Before bottling, there is only a gentle filtration.
THE TASTING
Straw yellow, the aroma is elegant with pleasant fruity notes, among which pear and white peach prevail, which leave room for hints of yeast and light mineral puffs. The palate is extremely well-balanced with excellent acidity. Fresh with a superb correspondence between aromas and flavours. Persistent
