THE WINE
The Friulano from the Picech winery is produced with 100% Friulano grapes grown on the Pradis hills between Cormons and Gorizia, not far from the Slovenian border. It is a wine that expresses the soul of the past; 6000 bottles are produced per year.
The wording “Le Vigne del Ribel” on all the labels recalls Roberto’s father, the winery’s current owner. This man did not compromise and made his wines known and appreciated by the majority. A figure well depicted by the hedgehog, which has become the winery’s symbol.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest accuses in mid September; it is manual and only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking. After a quick maceration which lasts about 6 hours, the grapes are softly pressed. The must is then decanted statically at a controlled temperature of about 14 ° C. The wine ages in steel on the lees for 8 months. Assembly and bottling follows,
THE TASTING
Straw yellow with golden reflections. The aroma is pleasant with fruity notes where pear prevails, which alternate with hints of acacia flowers to close with puffs of almond, typical of this vine. Harmonious well-structured on the palate with a pleasant saline note supported by an excellent acid component. This Friulano from the Picech winery is warm and persistent with a pleasing almond finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Excellent as an aperitif, perfect with fish, raw fish, shellfish, and white meats. Try it with soft cheeses.
