THE WINE
The Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso from the Alturis winery is produced with Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the winery, which are between the plains and hills near Cividale del Friuli in Friuli Venezia Giulia. An indigenous red wine that represents the winery that produces it.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest of the grapes is strictly manual and takes place in September. The grapes are gently destemmed and pressed. The must is then left to ferment on the skins at a controlled temperature with frequent pumping over; this step allows the extraction of the colour and all the aromas from the grape. After racking, the wine ages in steel tanks for a period that varies depending on the year of production. After bottling, the wine rests for a few months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Intense ruby red tending towards purple; the aroma is intense and elegant with pleasant hints of red fruits where blackberry, blueberry and blackcurrant prevail, leaving room for hints of pepper. Soft and dry on the palate, with a good structure. The tannins are lively but well-integrated. Good correspondence between aromas and flavour. Persistent.
