THE WINE
The Lagrein from the Terlano winery comes from 100% Lagrein grapes, which are grown in the vineyards owned by the winemakers who are members of the Tarlano cooperative winery. We are in Terlano in the province of Bolzano in Trentino Alto Adige; in 1893, the town’s winemakers decided to work together and founded the cooperative winery; it was a far-sighted vision, in fact, today, all wine lovers know Tarlano for the quality of its wines.
Lagrein is one of the flagship grape varieties of Alto Adige; its fruity taste enriched by aromatic notes and soft tannins is becoming increasingly popular among wine enthusiasts.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is also strictly manual because all the vineyards are on the hills, at an altitude between 250 and 290 meters above sea level. Once in the cellar, the grapes are manually selected and softly pressed. Temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in steel tanks; the wine ages in big oak barrels 6-7 months, and after blending and bottling, it rests for a few more months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Dark garnet red. The aroma is pleasantly fruity with notes of red fruits and morello cherries that leave room for floral hints of lilac and bay leaves to finish with delicate puffs of chocolate. Aromatic and well structured on the palate, the tannins are present but well integrated and silky. Long and persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Excellent with red meat and game but also with hard cheeses. Try it with beef rolls.
