THE WINE
The Carmenere of the Las Condes winery comes from 100% Carmenere grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the winery. This wine is the flagship of the cellar. We are located in the Maule Valley in central Chile; thanks to the climate and position, this valley is the most suitable area for producing excellent wines in Chile; in fact, we are a stone’s throw from the Pacific Ocean with the protection of the Andes chain.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is strictly manual and only occurs when the grapes are perfectly ripe. The winemaking occurs in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, and the grapes macerate for at least two weeks. The wine then ages for at least twelve months in French oak barriques. After blending and bottling, the wine rests for a few months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Bright, ruby red, the aroma is delicate with pleasant hints of red fruit such as cherry, blueberry and blackberry, which leave room for sweet spices to close with puffs of leather. Well structured, harmonious and fresh on the palate, the tannins are present but very well integrated and velvety. The correspondence between aromas and flavour is excellent. Long and persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meat, medium-hard cheeses, and pasta with meat sauces. Try it with roast chicken.
