THE WINE
The Malvasia of the Obiz winery is produced with 100% Malvasia grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the winery and located near Aquileia in Friuli Venezia Giulia. This is a great area for the viticulture since Roman times, as evidenced by the numerous amphorae that were found inside the property. The alluvial soil, rich in clay and sand; the proximity to the Adriatic sea and the protection of the Julian Alps allow the cultivation of the vine with excellent results.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is strictly manual and occurs in the early dawn hours. Once in the cellar, the grapes are softly pressed after a short maceration on the skins at a controlled temperature of 12°C. Fermentation takes place in steel and lasts about ten days. The wine then ages on the lees in concrete tanks and is bottled in the spring following the harvest.
The Obiz winery practices integrated pest management and since 2017 has been cultivating its vines according to the regulations set out in the Disciplinary.
THE TASTING
Straw yellow with light golden reflections; the aroma is broad and complex, with pleasant notes of fruit where apricot and peach prevail, leaving room for hints of hazelnut to close with scents of wild herbs. Warm and dry on the palate, with a pleasant savoury note. The persistence is also excellent.
