The wine Schioppettino by the Teresa Raiz winery
The Schioppettino from the Teresa Raiz winery is 100% Schioppettino grapes grown in the company vineyards between Rosazzo and Prepotto in the heart of the DOC Colli Orientali del Friuli, planted in the second half of the 90s, are over thirty years old. We are talking about an autochthonous Friulian red wine much loved for its unmistakable aromas and fresh taste.
THE WINEMAKING
After the manual harvest, only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking. Temperature-controlled fermentation occurs in steel; the wine rests in large oak barrels for a period that varies depending on the vintage. It then finishes its refinement in steel tanks, where it ages for at least six months. After assembly and bottling, the wine rests for a few more months in the cellar before being released onto the market.
Tasting the Teresa Raiz wine
Intense ruby red with purple hues; the aroma is elegant with pleasant notes of berries that intertwine with hints of cherry and plum to close with spicy puffs where black pepper prevails. Soft and well structured on the palate; the tannins are present but well-smoothed and silky. The correspondence between aromas and flavour is almost perfect. The finish is long and persistent.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Perfect with red meat and hard cheeses, this Schioppettino from Teresa Raiz pairs well with pasta dishes with meat sauces. Try it with stew.
