IL VINO
The Lessini Durello DOC 773 from the Montecchia di Crosara winery is 100% Durella grapes. Durella is the native vine of the Lessini Mountains in Veneto; it is a white grape, ancient and rustic, with a compact bunch; the name comes from the hardness of the grape skin and the high acidity that makes it perfect for sparkling wine.
This label is named 773 because the grapes grow in the vineyard at 773 meters above sea level.
We are in Montecchia di Crosara in the Veneto area of the Lessini Mountains, a highly suited area for producing sparkling wines.
THE WINEMAKING
After the harvest, the selected grapes are taken to the cellar and softly pressed. Fermentation occurs in steel tanks. The wine moves to an autoclave for sparkling, where it remains for a few months at a controlled temperature. After bottling, the wine rests for a few more months in the cellar before being released onto the market.
THE TASTING
Straw yellow with golden reflections and a fine and persistent perlage; the aroma is pleasant with typical hints of elderberry that alternate with hawthorn giving way to citrus notes of cedar and grapefruit. Fresh and lively on the palate with a nice acidic note typical of the grape variety. Good correspondence between aromas and flavour. The finish is long, elegant and persistent.
FOOD PAIRINGS
The Lessini Durello DOC 773 sparkling wine is excellent as an aperitif and goes well with fish but also with white meats and medium-aged cheeses. Try it with seafood risotto.
