The Caol Ila 2010 Virgin Oak Finish by Wilson & Morgan Distillery
Caol Ila 2010 Virgin Oak Finish is a selection of the best single malts from Scottish distilleries, aimed at seeking perfection of flavours in Scotch whisky from the islands. It was produced to celebrate the company’s thirty years of activity.
It was distilled in 2013; it matures for about nine years in barrels that previously aged bourbon before being moved to new barrels for 12 months. This whisky was bottled in 2023 cold without adding colourants and without filtration. Even though it is relatively young, it is rich in flavours and aromas.
The Tasting
Amber in colour; pleasant notes of iodine intertwine with seaweed and cereals to close with spicy puffs. Full-bodied and elegant on the palate with smoky notes that intertwine with salty ones with a long and persistent finish.
We recommend tasting it neat and relaxing while smoking a good Cesar Broner cigar.
Wilson & Morgan
Wilson & Morgan has been producing the best Scottish single malts since 1992. This company conducts meticulous research and selection work to offer an audience of connoisseurs whiskies rich in personality and a typically Scottish “artisanal” taste.
Their trademark lies in the ability to select the best single malts from the different distilleries and in the desire to wait for perfect ageing to be achieved, but also in choosing the best barrels to refine their single malts by exploiting the essences hidden between the boards of the barrels themselves like the wines, or other liqueurs.
