The wine Boborosso by Jacuss
The Boborosso from the Jacuss winery is a blend of Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes grown in the company’s vineyards that are located in Montina di Torreano in the heart of the eastern hills of Friuli. The terroir and the temperature variations between day and night make this area one of the most suitable for growing grapes in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The name “Boborosso” in the Friulian language refers to a clumsy individual who is slightly eccentric but completely harmless. The concept behind the winery is that this blend of three wines, which may seem unusual or even whimsical, is quite enjoyable. The label features a stylized depiction of a white hornbeam pruned using the pollarding technique.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is strictly manual, and only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar. The winemaking process starts with destemming and gently pressing the grapes that macerate on the skins for approximately 25 days, during which repeated pumping over takes place. After the initial racking, the three wines are blended and left to age in oak barrels for 28 to 30 months; once the wine is bottled, it rests for a few additional months in the cellar before being released to the market.
Tasting the wine from Jacuss
The wine is garnet red with purple highlights. It has an elegant aroma featuring pleasant notes of red fruit with hints of alcohol, which alternate with nuances of jam and balsamic undertones. The scent concludes with spicy hints and sensations of liquorice and leather. This wine is fine and intense on the palate, showcasing a perfect harmony between the aromas and flavours. It is soft and well-balanced, with a long and persistent finish.
