We invite you to explore the Valpanera winery in Fiumicello Villa Vicentina, near Aquileia in the province of Udine, Friuli Venezia Giulia. This family-run business has been passed down through generations, with a strong emphasis on tradition, modernity, and sustainability.

The wineyards

The winery’s vineyards span four areas surrounding Fiumicello Villa Vicentina, benefiting from refreshing sea breezes due to their proximity to the coast.

Borgo Pacco features sandy-clay soils ideal for producing red wines.

Scodovacca is a historic area known for the Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, a grape that embodies the winery’s identity. We highly recommend sampling all three labels produced from this grape.

San Martino, encompasses about one hectare of vineyard and enjoys a unique microclimate that enhances the quality of the grapes. Here grow the grapes for the two red wine reserves, Aquilio and Alma.

Cortona boasts over twenty hectares of vineyards with gravelly soils, perfect for cultivating white grape varieties. Here, the Chardonnay and Malvasia grapes thrive, producing wines with distinct aromas, fresh, and velvety.

Equalitas Certification

Valpanera Winery is one of the first in Friuli to receive the Equalitas certification, which validates its commitment to comprehensive sustainability.

“The primary goal of Equalitas is to promote a unique approach to the sustainability of the wine sector in Italy, based on three pillars: social, environmental, and economic. It aims to establish a collective guarantee brand for consumers.”

In addition, Valpanera is aligned with the SQNPI system (National Quality System for Integrated Production), which ensures responsible crop management, minimizes environmental impact, and guarantees food safety. Recently, the winery launched a biodiversity project by introducing new beehives in the vineyards, enhancing the ecosystem and aiming to produce honey.

The Winery Today

Today Valpanera Winery is run by a young and dynamic team that handles both the commercial aspects and daily operations. The winemaker, who is also young and has an international perspective, brings experience gained in Australia and Burgundy, France, back to Friuli; his goal is to create high-quality wines that honour tradition and accurately represent the region. We highly recommend tasting all the wines produced by the winery!
