Inspired by a pantry of the ancient Romans and a tavern where to find refreshment. It takes the name The Apotheca pantry and work (via Sant’Agostino, 22-24). It was taken from the Greek apothéké. The pantry where the ancient Greeks deposited the food and to the “puteca”, a moment of rest in the Neapolitan tradition.
The restaurant is a contemporary wine cellar, with a relaxed atmosphere, with attention to the smallest details. Characterized by a post-industrial style in walls and furnishings, with a familiar but at the same time elegant atmosphere.
The proposals
Born to develop food pairing, but also to bring cocktails and great spirits to the table. The inventor Tommaso Russo has chosen a young team that works well, with its genuineness and professionalism. The sommelier, Davide d’Amico, has the task of choosing the labels to keep in paper: a nurtured paper, which does not forget local productions, but which also embraces much more.
Strong point is the cocktail based on wine. Like The Sangaree (Madeira wine, citrus Sherbet, orzata, bitters and nutmeg), or El Obispo (Mezcal, roby port, violet, lime, red turnip, bitters and nutmeg) that encloses in a single glass the south america, the Portuguese coast, and the citrus fruit of our house. For lovers of the vintage port, also worth mentioning The Flip: Tawny Port, Fernet, coffee, eggs, chestnuts and nutmeg.
Here the proposed food is mainly composed of various tartare. Each dish is thought to be paired with one of the cocktails and depends explicitly on it. For those who do not choose the cocktail, the best wine among those present in the cellar will be recommended.
