We are in the municipality of Prepotto in Friuli Venezia Giulia, or as indicated in the sign you find when entering the town, the land of the Schioppettino. Antico Broilo is a small family-run business that for 4 generations has handed down from father to son, the winemaking tradition in respect of nature

Certified organic for several years, today it is managed by Massimo, son of Giovanni and Patrizia; Massimo, who represents the fourth generation of Dorì winemakers, told us that his first memory linked to wine dates back to when he was 4 years old and in his stroller, he went with his dad to the cellar. From there, the choice to continue the family business was a natural thing.

The company covers 7 hectares of land all planted with vines. Antico Broilo grows 2 native white berries, Friulano and Ribolla Gialla. Great emphasis is given to the red berried grapes; first of all the vine that is the master because it is born right here, the Schioppettino di Prepotto, but also the Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, another native vine of Friuli Venezia Giulia. To close there is the winery flagship, strongly desired by Massimo’s father, the Pinot Noir.

Visiting Antico Broilo you can immediately perceives that love, passion and respect for nature are three fundamental pillars on which the company is based. As Massimo told us, all wines are produced in a natural way. The wine is made in the vineyard, respecting the vines, and once in the cellar, the winemaking and fermentation are done in a traditional and spontaneous way with the only use of indigenous yeasts.
