Castello di Spessa
authoritative ambassadors of the region Friuli wine culture
“Friuli is the land where I was born. I personally know its most enchanting places, the hospitality of its people, its history, art and its food and wine heritage that have been appreciated the world over” This is what Loretto Pali (owner of the Castello di Spessa winery) thinks about his region Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The 30 hectares of the Castello di Spessa estate stretch over the gentle hills of the Collio D.O.C. area, in the D.O.C. Friuli Isonzo Area there are the 55 hectares, vineyards with a noble tradition, whose wines have been notably mentioned since the 16th century. From grape harvesting to vinification, tradition and innovation all make the flavours of the Castello di Spessa wines unforgettable to the taste. Here grow the most ancient and noble local and international varieties: Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Sauvignon, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Verduzzo, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, and from whose comes also the “Cru”, special aged wines which are refined in the medioeval cellars under the thirteenth-century castle, eighteen meters underground. Castello di Spessa promotes and spreads this tradition worldwide: every year their products successfully “speak” about the wonderful region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
