FILIPPON WINERY
The Ramandolo
The Filippon winery, founded by Lorenzo Comelli, it is so called because Lorenzo wanted to use the family nickname, “Filippon”; the surname Cornelli is a widespread and well-known surname in the eastern hills of Friuli and in particular in Nimis.
Lorenzo boasts a degree in oenology and a solid wealth of technical-scientific knowledge built on the experience gained in many prestigious wineries around the world. the first Ramandolo is bottled in 1999 and from there there has been a continuous evolution.
Unique of its kind, this Ramandolo is obtained from a late harvest with partial development of noble rot.
Lorenzo has also chosen to customize the label of his Ramandolo by taking up the motif of a 14th century fresco visible in the parish church of Saints Gervasio and Protasio (6th century AD) in Nimis. The fresco depicts St. John the Baptist with a kneeling donor and, in the background, a cask of wine.
