The Hofstatter winery is in Termeno, a historic town particularly suited to grape cultivation in the province of Bolzano. It is one of the most appreciated wineries in the Alto Adige area; it has a family history with an immense passion for both wine and the territory.
The winery’s history
The winery’s history is the history of the family.
In 1907 Josef Hofstatter founded the Hofstatter winery; Josef had managed an inn producing wine for personal use only. However, Josef quickly realized the potential of his wine and decided to transform his passion into a real job. At his side, there has always been his wife Maria, his right-hand man, and his childhood friend Konrad Oberhofer. Josef had no children and after he died in 1947 the winery was carried on by Konrad and his wife Luise, granddaughter of Maria and Josef Hofstatter.
Those two revolutionized the winery. They stopped selling bulk or barrel wine and started winemaking the most suitable vineyards in a parcel-by-parcel way creating reserves and quality wines.
With the next generation, the company became even more important. Sieglinde, the daughter of Konrad and Luise and heir of the Hofstatter estate, married Paolo Foradori, also a wine producer. The two merged their activities and managed the winery for many decades.
Since 1992 Martin Foradori Hofstatter has managed the winery; together with his wife, have the merit of modernizing the company while maintaining the level and quality that is over a century old.
The wine list
The wine list is wide and varied between the Trentodoc sparkling wine, the whites like the Gewurztraminer, the Pinot Binac, or the Chardonnay, but the winery flagship is the Pinot Noir; they produce various labels, all linked to different vineyards and all very good.
Hospitality
Visiting the winery is a unique experience. You can have fun between the cellar and the estate or a wine safari among the vineyards aboard a 4×4; all accompanied by the tasting of the excellent wines. Have fun!
