The Oltrepò Pavese

The Oltrepò Pavese area, where the La Piotta winery is located, has a surface area of approximately 12,000 hectares of vineyards; its shape resembles a triangle, wedged between Piedmont, Liguria and Emilia. The variety of the territory, the proximity to the sea and the presence of waterways influence the climate; mild with excellent excursions between night and day, especially in the summer. This area represents the third largest Italian area for the cultivation of vines and the production of DOC and DOCG wines. The Oltrepò Pavese is particularly suited to the production of Pinot Noir; the Pinot Noir sparkling wines from this area are important and well-known throughout the world.Nice to know, the Oltrepò area is crossed by the 45th parallel North, also known as the “wine parallel”; the same one that runs through Piedmont, the Bordeaux area and Oregon
