Paolo Caccese winery
il vino parla di tempo
The History
The history of Paolo Caccese winery began in the early 1950s when his father, the engineer Francesco Caccese who at the time was the prefect’s commissioner at Villa Russiz, entered the world of viticulture and fell in love with it to such an extent that in 1954 he bought two and a half hectares of vineyards in the hills of Pradis in the province of Cormons, in the heart of the current Collio DOC.
In the early 1970s, Paolo made more or less the same discovery as his father and decided to abandon his law studies to devote himself to the winery and viticulture. In the early 90s, thanks to the intuition of his wife Veronica, the company expanded and bought another three and a half hectares; in doing so, the winery, in addition to expanding the vineyards of native wines, also began to cultivate Verduzzo with which it started producing a sweet wine (La Veronica), highly appreciated on the market.
The Winery
Paolo Caccese Winery is located in Pradis; this locality in the municipality of Cormons in Friuli Venezia Giulia is a very suggestive area thanks to its rolling hills that dominate the region.
We are in the heart of the Collio DOC, an area highly suited to growing grapes thanks to the mild but warm climate and the soil rich in marl and sandstone, which here is called ponca.
The winey is also very attentive to eco-sustainability. The production of electricity thanks to photovoltaic systems, the recovery of rainwater, moderate irrigation without waste, and targeted treatments in the vineyard are at the heart of the company’s production philosophy.
The winees
All the white wines of the Paolo Caccese winery are top marks; we suggest you try them all, from the autochthonous Friulano to Pinot Bianco, from the aromatic Tramnner to Sauvignon to Riesling or Pinot Grigio or Malvasia; even the reds are no less and to top it off, La Veronica, the sweet wine made with dried grapes of Verduzzo and Malvasia Istriana. In short, they are all worth tasting.
