THE WINE
The Aglianico Riserva DOC Contado of the Di Majo Norante winery is produced with 100% Aglianico grapes. The grapes grow in the vineyards that are located on the hills of Molise in the Camarda vineyard, an area about 200 meters above sea level where the soil is mainly clayey and calcareous.
THE WINEMAKING
After the manual harvest, which takes place between the end of October and the beginning of November; only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar. The winemaking takes place in the traditional way, with a long maceration on the skin and fermentation at a controlled temperature in steel. The wine ages for at least 18 months in oak barriques and tonneau. After blending and bottling, the wine rests for at least 12 months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Ruby red with garnet reflections. The aroma is intense with pleasant hints of ripe fruit that leave room for spicy notes due to the passage in wood. Harmonious velvety on the palate, full bodied, rightly tannic with a good persistence and a pleasant aftertaste of black cherry.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meat, game and hard cheeses. Must try with the lasagna and the parmiggiana.
