THE WINE
The Château de Laborde dates back to 1700 and is located in Burgundy, one of the most renowned regions in France for its red wines of the highest quality. Here we are in a relatively young reality; in fact, the current owner Hervé bought this castle with his wife in 1998 and has worked hard to restore it to its former glory and produce noteworthy wines.
Aligote is a native Burgundy wine, Burgundy’s most produced white berried wine after Chardonnay. The vineyards are all owned by the winery and located in Corcelles-les Arts near the village of Puligny-Montrachet. The vines have an average age that exceeds sixty years.
THE WINEMAKING
The grapes are manually harvested, and only selected grapes go to the cellar for winemaking. After the soft pressing, the wine ferments in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Even the ageing on the lees takes place in the same steel tanks; the duration is several months and varies according to the year of production. After blending and bottling, the wine rests in the cellar for a few more months before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Golden yellow with greenish reflections; the aroma is intense with pleasant notes of white flowers that alternate with citrus scents to close with slightly mineral hints. Fresh and crunchy on the palate with an excellent correspondence between aromas and flavours, the Aligoté Sainte Marie La Blanche from the Chateau de Labordeil winery has a long and persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Excellent with fish and shellfish but also with white meats. Try it with Burgundy snails.

In 1785 the castle was bought by a former banker named Jean-Joseph de Laborde, who thus became Marquis de Laborde. However, the Marquis was guillotined in 1794, and the castle remained abandoned until 1814… keep reading
