THE WINE
The Amaranto of the Podere San Cristoforo winery is produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes, grown in the vineyards owned by the winery and located in Montalcino; in the Tuscan Maremma.
THE WINEMAKING
The grapes are manually harvested in the first ten days of September. Only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking. Both maceration and spontaneous fermentation take place in stainless steel. the maturation, on the other hand, takes place in used French oak barriques and lasts about 10 months. The wine is then bottled without being filtered, when the moon is waning. The bottles refine a few months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Intense ruby red. The aroma is elegant with pleasant fruity hints of red fruits such as cherry, raspberry and strawberry that leave room for herbaceous notes of undergrowth. Closing with spicy scents of black pepper, cinnamon and licorice. Dry on the palate, of medium intensity and structure and a good correspondence between aromas and flavor.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with both white and red meats; must try with your barbecue but also with mixed cold cuts.
