THE WINE
The Arbis Ros DOC of the Borgo San Daniele winery is produced with 100% Pignolo grapes grown in Ziris in the municipality of Cormons in Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is a native vine that the winery has been able to recover and create a high level wine that well represents the area it is coming from.
THE WINEMAKING
After the manual harvesting, only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar. The winemaking takes place in the traditional way with maceration on the skins that lasts about 15 days. The wine then ages for 12 months in oak barrels of various sizes. After bottling, the wine rests for several months (varies according to the vintage), in the cellar.
THE TASTING
Intense ruby red. The aroma is elegant, with a pleasant hint of red fruits that leave room for light scents of black pepper. Fresh and harmonious on the palate: the tannins are well integrated and silky. Excellent persistence.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meat, hard cheeses and game. Must try with grilled meat.
THE WINERY
Borgo San Daniele is a winery made up of people, two in particular, the Alessandra and Mauro Mauri (brother and sister). As children, Alessandra and Mauro spent a lot of time with their grandparents. The grandparents were farmers and winemakers and owned a small company where everyone did a bit of everything. The time spent with the grandparents allowed Alessandra and Mauro to fall in love with farming and winemaking to the point that Alessandra undertook her studies as an agricultural expert and Mauro in oenology and viticulture… go to the winery page
