THE WINE
The Barbaresco Basarin from the Angelo Negro winery is produced with 100% nebbiolo grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the winery that are located on the hills of the Lange and pore preciselyin Neive, M.G:A, Basarin. We are in the province of Cuneo in Piedmont, in a land particularly suited to the cultivation of wine. We are at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level; here the soil is calcareous and sandy.
THE WINEMAKING
The grape harvest, which is strictly manual, takes place in October. The selected grapes are placed in boxes of about 20 kg and taken to the cellar. The winemaking takes place in steel at a controlled temperature. The wine then ages for about 20 months in Slovenian oak barrels and after assembly and bottling, the bottles rest at least 6 months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Very intense garnet red. The aroma is very elegant with pleasant hints of red fruit that leave room for spicy notes to close with light scents of citrus. Very elegant also on the palate; well balanced with an excellent structure. The tannins are felt but are well polished. Excellent correspondence between aromas and flavor. Very long persistence.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meat, game and pasta dishes with meat sauces, but also with hard cheeses.
