THE WINE
The Barbera Vigna Gabutti of the Cappellano winery comes from 100% Barbera grapes grown in the historic Gabutti vineyard (from which the wine takes its name) in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba. These vineyards owned by the winery are located about 300 meters above sea level. Barbera is, together with Barolo Pie Rupestris, one of the flagships of the world-famous winery.
THE WINEMAKING
After the manual harvest, only the carefully selected grapes are taken to the cellar for winemaking, which begins with the destemming. Subsequently, the must ferments for at least 20 days in cement tanks with the sole help of indigenous yeasts. The refinement of the wine, which is not filtered, takes place in large oak barrels and lasts about 20 months. After blending and bottling, the wine rests in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Intense ruby red, the aroma is complex and intense, with notes of red fruits such as blackberries and raspberries that intertwine with puffs of spices and sensations of undergrowth. Rich and intense on the palate, very well balanced, with velvety tannins and a perfect correspondence between aroma and taste. Very fresh with very long persistence.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meats, hard cheeses and game. Also excellent as a meditation wine.
Wine is purchased directly from the producer and stored in cold rooms.
