The wine Barolo Lecinquevigne from Damilano winery
The Barolo Lecinquevigne from Damilano Winery is a celebration of the richness and diversity of the territory, produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes sourced from five selected vineyards in the municipalities of Barolo, Grinzane Cavour, La Morra, Monforte d’Alba, and Novello. The limited production and meticulous care in cultivation and winemaking give this Barolo exceptional quality and a unique personality.
The Winemaking
The winemaking process for Barolo Lecinquevigne follows traditional methods combined with modern techniques to enhance the characteristics of Nebbiolo. After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and follow a long maceration on the skins to extract maximum colour and aromas. The wine then matures for at least two years in Slavonian oak barrels, which impart structure and complexity, along with an additional 12 months in the bottle before being released.
Tasting the Barolo
Intense garnet red colour. On the nose, it offers a complex and refined bouquet with predominant notes of ripe red fruits, cherry, and plum, enriched by floral hints of violet and delicate spicy undertones of liquorice and tobacco. The wine is full-bodied and enveloping on the palate, with velvety and well-integrated tannins; freshness and acidity balance the structure, leading to a long and persistent finish with an elegant aftertaste.
Food Paring
This Barolo lends itself to multiple gastronomic pairings, enhancing rich and complex dishes. It is perfect with red meats, roasts, braised dishes, and game. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses and truffle-based dishes, characteristic of Piedmontese cuisine: for a refined pairing, try it with Barolo risotto or tagliatelle with wild boar ragu. Serve at 18-20°C after decanting for at least one hour to fully express its aromas and flavors.
