The wine Bricco dell’Uccellone from Braida winery
The Bricco dell’Uccellone from the Braida winery is produced with 100% Barbera grapes growing in the vineyards owned by the winery and located in Rocchetta Tanaro. L’Uccellone was the nickname of a woman who lived on the hill of the vineyards. Her nose resembled a bird’s beak and in addition she always wore black. This earned her the nickname in the village. Hence the name Bricco dell’Uccellone.
THE WINEMAKING
After manual harvesting, only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking. Maceration on the skins takes place at a controlled temperature and lasts 20 days. The wine is then moved in oak barrels where it ages for 12 months. After bottling, the wine rests for another year in the cellar before being placed on the market.
Tasting the Barbera Bricco dell’Uccellone
Very intense ruby red with garnet reflections. The aroma is complex, with elegant hints of red fruit and small fruits, which leave room for minty spices, vanilla and licorice. Soft and well structured on the palate, a wine of great class, with a perfect correspondence between aromas and flavor and a very long aromatic persistence.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Perfect with red meat, roasts but also with sauces and hard cheeses.
Wine is purchased directly from the producer and stored in cold rooms.
