THE WINE
The Barolo del comune di Serralunga d’Alba from the Angelo Negro winery is part of the reserve line; a line that represents the maximum expression of the territory. The wines of this line are produced only in the “great” years, i.e. the years when the grapes are practically perfect..
This Barolo in particular comes from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in the property’s vineyards, located on the hills of Serralunga d’Alba at an altitude between 300 and 400 meters above sea level. In the province of Cuneo in Piedmont, in a land particularly suited to the cultivation of vines.
THE WINEMAKING
The grape harvest is strictly manual and occurs in the second half of October. The selected grapes are placed in boxes of approximately 20 kg and taken to the cellar. Once in the cellar, the winemaking takes place in concrete tanks with at least 20 days of maceration. The wine then ages for approximately 38 months between Slovenian oak barrels and bottles.
THE TASTING
Garnet red, the aroma is very elegant with pleasant floral hints of violet and dried rose which leave room for spicy notes to finish with light scents of undergrowth. Rich and full bodied on the palate, very elegant, excellently structured with silky and well integrated tannins. The correspondence between aromas and flavor is excellent. Very long persistence.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meats, game, first courses with meat sauces, and also with mature cheeses.
