THE WINE
The Brag Bianco of the Gravner winery is a bland of Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Riesling Italico grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the winery. We are located in Oslavia, a small town in the province of Gorizia in Friuli Venezia Giulia. On the hills of the Collio close to the border with Slovenia. This area is also known as Brda, which means Collio in Slovenian.
After the manual harvesting, only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar. The winemaking is very special; in fact, the must ferments in buried Georgian amphorae, with a long maceration on the skins, using only indigenous yeasts and without temperature control. After racking and pressing, the wine returns in the amphorae for a further 5 months. This is followed by 6 years of ageing in large oak barrels.
Amber yellow. The aroma is intense with pleasant flower notes that give way to hints of dried apricot which in turn alternate with scents of dried fruit and herbs, closing with light but very pleasant puffs of saffron. Soft and warm on the palate, with a perfect correspondence between the aromas and the flavour. Fresh and mineral with a never ending persistence.
Due to its complexity, this wine is perfect with red meats and hard cheeses, but also with tasty fish dishes such as fish soup.
