THE WINE
The Broy wine from the Collavini winery is a blend of Friulano, Chardonnay and Sauvignon grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the vinery located in San Floriano del Collio in the heart of the DOC Collio in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The name Broy comes from the Friulian “broili”, which indicates the small vegetable garden that in the past, surrounded Friulian houses; very often, the owners planted vines to produce wine to consume at home with friends.
THE WINEMAKING
The manual harvest takes place in September. Once harvested, the Friulano and Chardonnay grapes are partially dried in the fruit cellar where, thanks to special fans, the air has a constant temperature of 12°C and humidity is almost zero. Sauvignon grapes, on the other hand, after a short maceration, are pressed and cooled to block fermentation.
When the Friulano and Chardonnay grapes have reached the desired drying level, they are pressed separately; the three musts are put together; one part ferments in steel while the other in barriques and, or tonneaux of third passage. The refinement on the noble lees lasts about two years; the wine is bottled at the beginning of summer.
THE TASTING
Intense straw yellow with light greenish reflections; the aroma is intense with pleasant notes of ripe tropical fruit that alternate with acacia honey and orange peel scents to close with puffs of yellow flowers. Soft and warm on the palate, the Broy of the Collavini winery surprises with the perfect balance between freshness and minerality and its powerful and long body.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Excellent with fish and medium-hard cheeses. Try it with truffle risotto.
