THE WINE
The Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva from the Rocca Sveva winery is a blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes grown on the hills east of Verona in Veneto; in this area, there is the most important regional DOC and DOCG known throughout the world.
Rocca Sveva is a charming medieval village transformed into a winery of excellence. This Amarone DOCG is part of a wine selection from the Veronese tradition. Amarone in particular is a warm, soft and pleasant wine that you will love to accompany your meat-based dinners.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is strictly manual; the selected grapes, after being picked, remain in the fruit cellar to dry for at least three months. The winemaking occurs in stainless steel containers; the wine ages for at least twenty-four months in large Slovenian oak barrels; after assembly and bottling, the wine rests for a few more months in the cellar before being released onto the market.
THE TASTING
Intense ruby red with garnet reflections; elegant on the nose with pleasant hints of cherry that alternate with notes of berries to continue with puffs of sweet spices and to close with scents of chocolate. Warm and soft on the palate, this Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva is a well-structured wine with velvety and harmonious tannins and a very long and persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva from the Rocca Sveva winery pairs well with red meats, game and hard cheeses. Try the “risotto all’amarone”, a typical dish of the Verona area.
