THE WINE
The Chardonnay from the Terlano winery comes from 100% Chardonnay grapes, which are grown in the vineyards owned by the winemakers who are members of the Tarlano cooperative winery. We are in Terlano in the province of Bolzano in Trentino Alto Adige; in 1893, the town’s winemakers decided to work together and founded the cooperative winery; it was a far-sighted vision, in fact, today, all wine lovers know Tarlano for the quality of its wines.
Chardonnay is an international grape variety whose cultivation is consolidated in the Terlano vineyards also because the climate of Alto Adige gives the wine a marked freshness.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is also strictly manual because all the vineyards are on the hills, at an altitude between 260 and 350 meters above sea level and with a slope from 5 to 70%. Once in the cellar, the grapes are manually selected and softly pressed. Temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in steel tanks; the wine ages in steel vats for at least 6-7 months, and after blending and bottling, it rests for a few more months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Light straw yellow with light golden reflections; the aroma is pleasantly fruity with notes of exotic fruit that alternate with hints of banana, quince and melon to finish with scents of lemon balm. Soft and aromatic on the palate, with a good correspondence between aromas and flavour and a long and persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Excellent with white meat, fish, including raw fish, and soft cheeses. Try it with sea bass in a salt crust.
