The Domaz Alcohol Free Trittico from the Domenis Distillery

The Domaz is part of the Trittico line, which focuses on Mixology at the Domenis distillery. It is the distillery’s first alcohol-free bitter, crafted from a blend of carefully selected botanicals.

Domenis has successfully created a rich and balanced bitter without any alcohol. They selected bitter essences such as rhubarb and cinchona while incorporating aromatic ingredients like cinnamon, absinthe, and mint. The final result is an intense yet smooth bitter, characterized by a rich and pleasantly spicy flavour profile.

The Distillery

The Domenis distillery was founded in 1898 in Cividale del Friuli, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, by Pietro Domenis who started the distillation of white and black pomace and fruit. At the end of the 19th century, what is referred to today as “Grappa Storica” was born. This grappa stood out for its unique organoleptic characteristics and was different from other spirits of the time. Pietro initially distributed his spirits within the region.

A significant change occurred between 1951 and 1984, during which Domenis spirits established themselves in the national market. This development led the distillery to invest in production facilities. The entirely copper still system and the low-pressure direct steam method are trademarks of the company, contributing increasingly to its renown in Italy.

The “Grappa Storica” was officially launched in 1986, and its quality allowed Domenis to become a leader in the spirits market.

1998

In 1998, Domenis celebrated its first 100 years, and introduced the “Storica Nera”. This flagship 60° grappa is dedicated to founder Pietro Domenis; it features a harmonious and elegant profile, refined yet smooth and velvety

Another important milestone was reached in 1999 with the launch of the Bio line which utilizes grape marc from organic farming for its grappas.

In 2016, the brand embarked on a new journey by expanding its range to include lower-alcohol grappas and mixing spirits.

Alongside the finest Friulian grappas, the distillery now offers several gins and liqueurs. Notable lines include LADY Domenis, dedicated to women, and VEGAN, a line of vegan and organic products certified by the Vegan Society and CCPB.

Today, the journey continues with the Trittico line featuring products specifically designed for mixology, as well as the DOMAZ, the zero-alcohol liqueur
