Lussuria Nera by Antica Contea brewery
Lussuria Nera is an extraordinary creation from the Antica Contea Brewery, inspired by the tradition of Russian Imperial Stouts, a category of beers known for their bold character and rich, complex profiles. This beer represents a sensory journey that dates back to the times when English brewers crafted strong and robust recipes to satisfy the needs of the Russian court.
With a high alcohol content and a mix of carefully selected ingredients, Lussuria Nera offers a perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness, making it ideal for those seeking an intense and memorable tasting experience. Its recipe, the result of meticulous craftsmanship, promises to transport drinkers into a world of enveloping aromas and deep flavors, making each sip a moment of pure pleasure. Let’s explore its ideal pairings, distinctive characteristics, and the story that makes it so special.
Distinctive Characteristics
This beer stands out for a number of characteristics that make it unique. With an ideal serving temperature between 8 and 10°C, it offers an optimal tasting experience. The main ingredients include water, barley malt, hops, and yeast, with the addition of molasses that provides particular sweetness and complexity to the flavor. With an alcohol content of 9.7% vol. and an IBU of 46, this beer presents a perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness, making it appreciated by those who love strong flavors as well as those who prefer softer notes. Additionally, it is important to note that it is suitable for those following a gluten-free diet, making it accessible to a wider audience.
Ideal Pairings
This beer pairs perfectly with a variety of rich and flavorful dishes. Spiced meats, such as stews and roasts, find in it an ideal companion, as its intense aromatic profile balances the spiciness and strong flavors. Spicy foods, like those from Mexican or Indian cuisine, can also be enjoyed with this beer, as its complexity helps mitigate the heat of the spices. We must also highlight aged cheeses, whose robust flavors are enhanced by the richness of this beer, creating a pairing that satisfies even the most discerning palates. Finally, for the sweet-toothed, desserts made with dark chocolate represent a perfect finale for a meal, as chocolate harmonizes beautifully with the coffee and licorice aromas present in the beer.
The Brewery
The Antica Contea brewery was born in 2013 in Gorizia in Friuli Venezia Giulia. That year, two schoolmates, Andrea and Costantino, combined their two greatest passions, English-style craft beer and their territory.
Everything comes from a small workshop, little more than a garage, where the two friends seek originality and quality. It was indeed a challenge because all know Friuli Venezia Giulia as a land suited to the production of wine.
In 2016, the brewery moved to Piedimonte, in a new factory, with a new and larger production plant; here is also the taproom, an area dedicated to tasting, where you can find draft beer in a welcoming environment that reminds of an English pub.
The production has expanded and diversified in these ten years of activity, drawing inspiration from various Anglo-Saxon and Central European brewing traditions.
The beers of the Antica Contea brewery are ideal for those who prefer craft beer and want a quality product.
