The Wine
The Friulano “Toc Bas” of the Ronco del Gelso winery is produced with 100% Friulano grapes grown in the vineyards planted in the lower area of Cormons. We are in the province of Gorizia not far from the border with Slovenia.
THE WINEMAKING
After the strictly manual harvest, the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking. The grapes are softly pressed and left to ferment in steel tanks with the use of selected yeasts, at a controlled temperature of 19 ° C. The wine is then racked into large 25 hl oak barrels where it ages for about one year; after assembly and bottling, it rests a few more months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Straw yellow with greenish reflections. The aroma is fine with pleasant hints of hazelnuts and licorice that leave room for notes of bitter almond, typical of this grape variety. Fresh on the palate; it is a well structured wine, slightly tannic with a good correspondence between taste and aromas. Somewhat bitter but with a very fine aftertaste.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with fish, white meat, cold cuts and vegetables. Must try with beef fillet carpaccio
