THE WINE
The Franciacorta Brut of the Martinelli Estate is a blend of Chardonnay grapes for 90% and Pinot Nero for 10%, grown in the property’s vineyards located on “Monte Orfano”. It is a pre-Alpine relief on the southwestern edge of Franciacorta and is so-called because it is isolated from the other hills. Orfano in Italian means orphan. In this area, we find the characteristic “Terra Rossa” (red earth); calcareous soil, which, together with clayey elements and iron oxide, creates this phenomenon. The “minerality” of the soil makes the wines of this area unique.
THE WINEMAKING
After the strictly manual harvest, only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking. Winemaking begins with a soft pressing to obtain the separation of only the free-run must, which ferments in thermo-controlled stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 16.5 ° C. The base of the sparkling wine obtained matures in steel tanks for 6-7 months. The wine is then bottled and left to rest on the lees for at least 18 months. Disgorgement 2021.
THE TASTING
Straw yellow with slight greenish reflections; the perlage is fine and persistent. The aroma is elegant with pleasant floral notes that blend well with the hints of yeasts. Soft and fresh on the palate, with a nice mineral note and an excellent correspondence between perfumes and aromas. Long and persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It is perfect as an aperitif; it goes well with white meats and fish, even raw.

Thanks to the diversification of the land and due to the position of the Franciacorta territory, the grapes reach a degree of the unique complexity of their kind. Here, the earth is red and rich in limestone but also clayey elements, and I remind you that we are in a hilly area between Brescia and the southern part of Lake Iseo.As already mentioned, the vineyards are all owned by the winery; they grow vines of Pinot Bianco, Pinot Nero, Chardonnay, Moscato, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot…. go to the winery page
