THE WINE
The Alma Gran Cuvée of the Bellavista winery is an excellence of Franciacorta. It takes the name “Alma” from the Latin “almus” which means it nourishes, nourishes and grows life. Produced with 77% Chardonnay, 22% Pinot Nero and 1% Pinot Bianco grapes coming only from the 10 parcels of the 10 Municipalities of Franciacorta which over time have proved to be more suited to expressing traits of character and elegance; facing South or South-East, at an altitude of 200 to 350 meters with maximum exposure to the breezes that come from Lake Iseo and the Prealps,
THE WINEMAKING
After manual harvesting, the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking. At least 35% of the wines that make up the Cuvée ferment in small white oak barrels over 35 years of age. For 40 years, the winery has been working to extend the aging time more and more; today the aging period of Alma Gran Cuvée is at least 40 months starting from the harvest with 36 months on yeasts.
THE TASTING
Straw yellow with greenish reflections, the perlage is fine and continuous. The aromas are ample and inviting; hints of ripe fruit intertwine with sweet notes of meringue and pastry cream to close with hints of candied citrus fruits. Elegant on the palate with a perfect correspondence between nose and taste; fresh with a long and harmonious finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Excellent as an aperitif gives its best with fish also raw. Must try with smoked salmon
