THE WINE
Historical company founded in 1898 in Prepotto, near the border with Slovenia. A land difficult to cultivate but rich in quality; Edi and Maurizio, the winery owners, grow the wines with a low environmental impact. The harvest is also done manually.
The winery devoted itself to the cultivation of indigenous varieties ribolla giallo, schioppettino, friulano, but also cabernet franc and merlot. The grapes used for this wine are 100% friulano.
THE WINEMAKING
After the manual harvest that takes place at the end of September, the selected grapes are de-stemmed and fermented on the skins for 10 days, at controlled temperature. Follows a very soft pressing. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks. After the decanting, the wine is left to age in the same steel tanks for about 6 months. Follows the bottling and subsequent refinement in the bottle for 1 months.
THE TASTING
Bright straw yellow. The aroma is floral and aromatic, with varietal hints of wild flowers and sweet almond. The taste has a light dry aroma of apricot, almond and apples; lively on the palate.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Excellent with mixed cold cuts from the Friuli tradition, soups and fish dishes. Interesting with the Trout of San Daniele.
The bottle has a special label, created exclusively for the La Vite e il Legno wine shop. You can only find it in the wine shop and here on Enolike!
