THE WINE
The Friulano from the Monviert winery comes from 100% Friulano grapes grown near Cividale in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The Friulano is an indigenous wine from Friuli Venezia Giulia; it stands out as the most widespread white grape variety not only for its extension but also for its ability to fully reflect the peculiarities and identity of this region. Until 2007, it was known as “Tocai Friulano”; however, following a European Court ruling in favour of Hungarian wine, it adopted the current name “Friulano”.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is carried out exclusively by hand. Once in the cellar, the grapes are delicately destemmed. Follows a light pressing of the grapes and the must obtained is clarified through decantation. Winemaking continues in stainless steel tanks with the fermentation at a controlled temperature of 18°-20°C. The wine then ages for 3-4 months in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, after blending and bottling, the wine rests in the cellar for a few months before being introduced onto the market.
THE TASTING
The wine has a straw yellow colour with greenish nuances. The intense aroma evokes wildflowers, hay and almonds. Refined, delicate, full-bodied and creamy on the palate, with a distinctive bitter almond flavour typical of this vine.
FOOD PAIRINGS
This Friulano from the Monviert winery is perfect as an aperitif but goes well with white meat, fish and vegetables. Try it with San Daniele raw ham.
