THE WINE
The Friulano from the Zof farm comes from 100% Friulano grapes from the vineyards owned by the winery. We are in Corno di Rosazzo in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, a small area with a great wine tradition known worldwide. In Corno di Rosazzo, the climate, exposure, and the soil are fundamental factors for excellent wine production.
A family-run business for four generations with fifteen hectares of vineyards equally divided between white wines and red wines with native and non-native grapes. Zof has also boasted the collaboration of Donato Lanati for over ten years, the oenologist-scientist known throughout the wine world for his qualities and philosophy.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest takes place in the second half of September. Once in the cellar, the grapes are destemmed, softly pressed and left to ferment in steel tanks. Both winemaking and refinement take place in steel. The May following the harvest, the wine is assembled, bottled, and, left to rest for a few months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Bright straw yellow with greenish reflections; the aroma is intense with pleasant hints of wildflowers that intertwine with notes of aromatic spices to close with the classic puffs of bitter almond. Zof’s Friulano is fresh and soft on the palate; a velvety, well-structured wine with a perfect correspondence between aromas and flavor. Long and persistent finish with almond notes.
FOOD PAIRINGS
