The Wine
The Gewurztraminer Joseph from the Hofstatter winery is produced with 100% Gewurztraminer grapes grown and selected in the vineyards owned by the winery. Thanks to the microclimate, the ideal position and the age of the vineyards, this area is suitable for growing Gewurztraminer vines, an aromatic and fresh wine perfect for all occasions.
THE WINEMAKING
After manual harvesting, the selected grapes are taken to the cellar for winemaking. The grapes are destemmed softly pressed, and the must is left to rest in contact with the skins for a few hours to enhance the varietal aromas. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature. Regarding refinement, the wine rests for few months in steel on fine yeasts. After blending and bottling, the wine rests in the cellar for a few more months before being released onto the market.
THE TASTING
Deep straw yellow with bright reflections. The aroma is pleasant, with notes of dried flowers that alternate with hints of rose to finish with nice spicy hints. Well balanced with excellent freshness on the palate. The correspondence between aromas and flavour is also excellent, with a long and persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Perfect as an aperitif, it goes well with shellfish and mature cheeses. To try with Asian cuisine.
