THE WINE
The Gewürztraminer from the Tarlano winery comes from 100% Gewürztraminer grapes, which are grown in the vineyards owned by the winemakers who are members of the Tarlano cooperative winery. We are in Terlano in the province of Bolzano in Trentino Alto Adige; in 1893, the town’s winemakers decided to work together and founded the cooperative winery; it was a far-sighted vision, in fact, today, all wine lovers know Tarlano for the quality of its wines.
Gewürztraminer is a cornerstone of white wines produced in Alto Adige. It is a wine much loved for its intense floral and fruity aromas and its intensity in the mouth. Almost perfect with Asian cuisine.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is also strictly manual because all the vineyards are on the hills, at an altitude between 270 and 450 meters above sea leveland with a slope from 3 to 30%. Once in the cellar, the grapes are manually selected and softly pressed. Temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in steel tanks; the wine ages in steel vats for at least 6-7 months, and after blending and bottling, it rests for a few more months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Intense straw yellow with golden hues. The aroma is captivating, with pleasant notes of mango and lily that alternate with cloves to close with hints of rose petals, which is typical of this vine. It is very well structured on the palate with a lively acid note, an almost perfect correspondence between aromas and flavour, and a long and persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with fish, white meats, soft cheeses, and Asian cuisine.
