The wibe Rosso di Valtellina by the Ar.Pe.Pe. winery
The Rosso di Valtellina from the Ar.Pe.Pe winery comes from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in the property’s vineyards. This red in particular, was born in 2003 when, due to a particularly hot summer, the grapes did not have the quality necessary to produce the winery’s reserve wines. Today, this young, fresh, and easy-to-drink Nebbiolo is one of Ar.Pe.Pe’s best-selling wines.
THE WINEMAKING
After the manual harvest which takes place around mid-October, the selected grapes are taken to the cellar for winemaking. Maceration takes place in 50hl wooden vats and, depending on the vintage, can last up to seventy days. The wine ages in wooden and steel barrels for at least five months and after blending and bottling it rests for a few more months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
Tasting the wine by Ar.Pe.Pe.
The Rosso di Valtellina has a pale garnet red color. The aroma is pleasant with floral notes of violet that intertwine with fruity hints where raspberry and cherry prevail. Fresh and well-balanced on the palate with an excellent correspondence between aromas and flavor and a long and persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meat but also with hard cheeses; try it with the classic tagliatelle with Bolognese ragù.
